I am Kanika.

I'm the host of this podcast and a meditation teacher.

Speaker:

And it is such a pleasure to bring this podcast to you.

Speaker:

What I'm trying to do is share how meditation changes my life and

Speaker:

hopefully give you some mindsets and tips that might influence your life.

Speaker:

I definitely encourage you to seek out your own answers, see what resonates

Speaker:

with you and play with these ideas definitely in your own way, make them

Speaker:

really unique and applicable to yourself.

Speaker:

Today, I thought the topic that we can talk about is receiving.

Speaker:

You know, giving and receiving, so I give something to someone and then I receive

Speaker:

something and maybe it's not with the same person, maybe it's with somebody else.

Speaker:

But often, we could have some mindset blocks around receiving.

Speaker:

I know for myself, I definitely did.

Speaker:

If I go back to the time when I got out of a relationship that wasn't working

Speaker:

for me, I had a whole lot of unworthy pictures and being invalidated pictures.

Speaker:

So I remember this particular time, I was reconnecting with a friend,

Speaker:

and she wanted to pay for coffee.

Speaker:

And I couldn't accept that, like it wasn't the biggest amount in the world, but I

Speaker:

was like, what, I've got to go and get my money out, or like pay for it before she

Speaker:

can get her card out, and she's like, hey, it's on me, like next time you can pay.

Speaker:

And I made sure I had my card out before that, and I paid for it.

Speaker:

But in the background as I was meditating, I was also trying to see, well..

Speaker:

, is this really healthy?

Speaker:

Because this wasn't the first person that I tried to do that.

Speaker:

It didn't matter how comfortable I felt with someone.

Speaker:

It was hard for me to receive.

Speaker:

Simple things, like even receiving a compliment.

Speaker:

Really hard.

Speaker:

You know, somebody would say, Hey, you look nice.

Speaker:

I would go like, Yeah, but that is because the dress looks nice

Speaker:

or so on or something like it was really hard to accept something.

Speaker:

It was really hard at the same time to even speak for myself.

Speaker:

There was a time in our company where we were exchanging Christmas gifts.

Speaker:

So, essentially, we had Christmas gifts lying on the table, and each one of us was

Speaker:

taking rounds, and we were saying, well, that's the package I want, and we would

Speaker:

talk the color or describe the package that we wanted, and we would open it.

Speaker:

So, we'd all pitched in, and we were sharing that.

Speaker:

And there was one that I wanted.

Speaker:

And when I said that, the girl over there, she misunderstood, and she

Speaker:

said, Well, no, you can't ask for the present that you've put on the table.

Speaker:

And I hadn't.

Speaker:

I hadn't put that one.

Speaker:

I was asking for a different one.

Speaker:

But somehow, I didn't have that much, voice to be able to say that, hey,

Speaker:

that's what I want, and this is what I did not put myself, I'm not asking

Speaker:

for something that I bought myself.

Speaker:

But I couldn't do that.

Speaker:

So your receiving could probably also be linked to how much are you really standing

Speaker:

up for yourself even in the smallest of things, even in the smallest of scenarios.

Speaker:

As I looked at it for myself and probed deeper into the energy of receiving,

Speaker:

I realized a couple of things.

Speaker:

For me, there was...

Speaker:

A whole programming concept around being a good girl, good girls give,

Speaker:

good girls do a lot, good girls are very caring, very nurturing,

Speaker:

they carry a whole lot of burden.

Speaker:

But they don't ask back.

Speaker:

So how that played out for me was, it was very happy in terms of giving

Speaker:

my time, my thoughts, my actions, and doing a whole lot of stuff, like I would

Speaker:

buy lots of gifts for people, I would really go out of my way to help people,

Speaker:

sometimes people I didn't even know as much, but I took a lot of pride in that.

Speaker:

Even if I felt exhausted and tired, I took a lot of pride in helping everybody.

Speaker:

Money came into it as well, like I would feel really comfortable doing

Speaker:

something for someone, but if someone gave me a gift, oh my God, that was

Speaker:

so hard to accept and internally I would be thinking, what do I now do?

Speaker:

Because how do I make up for it?

Speaker:

How do I sort of equal the equation, and in my terms the equation

Speaker:

meant, well, I have to give more, I definitely cannot receive.

Speaker:

The universe actually doesn't work like that.

Speaker:

The universe doesn't want you to be depleting your energy, because if you

Speaker:

are giving and giving and giving, well, then essentially you're only giving,

Speaker:

and there's nothing left for you.

Speaker:

Let's say if you had a glass of water and you were giving

Speaker:

out your water to everybody.

Speaker:

Eventually the water runs out and then you have nothing left for yourself.

Speaker:

You have nothing left for others around you either.

Speaker:

So it's not a good equation.

Speaker:

The universe wants you to be in harmony.

Speaker:

The universe wants both the scales to balance and for both the scales to balance

Speaker:

there's got to be an equal amount of receiving and an equal amount of giving.

Speaker:

Giving and the receiving might not be from the same person, might

Speaker:

not be from the same situation.

Speaker:

It can be different forms of giving and receiving.

Speaker:

But generally, overall, you want to feel that you are getting enough.

Speaker:

So, if you are in a job, you want to feel like you're being paid, rewarded

Speaker:

for the work that you're doing.

Speaker:

You might feel like you're putting in a whole lot more, but then the understanding

Speaker:

should be that they're putting in a whole lot more to either help you

Speaker:

monetarily or with flexibility or with giving you learning options that help

Speaker:

you succeed in your career later on.

Speaker:

If you have a relationship, you want to feel nurtured in that relationship.

Speaker:

Typically the adult relationships, maybe with kids, it's a little bit

Speaker:

different because they're younger.

Speaker:

But with adult relationships, you want to feel like you're validated.

Speaker:

You want to feel like you're seen, valued, heard as a minimum, because if

Speaker:

none of these things happen, or If one of these things doesn't happen, it's

Speaker:

bound to cause frustration in some time.

Speaker:

You know, if you feel like you are looking out for the other person, and somehow you

Speaker:

are not feeling enough with that, then I urge you to start thinking around what

Speaker:

can you do so that you start validating yourself and maybe take baby steps.

Speaker:

So take baby steps , if you feel there's a relationship that doesn't feel right, you

Speaker:

don't have to automatically block it off, but you could probably reduce the time.

Speaker:

You could try and set the boundaries around it.

Speaker:

Perhaps voice up in time, baby steps, that there are certain things that you don't

Speaker:

like, this is how you would prefer it.

Speaker:

Relationships will evolve, sometimes people will understand that this

Speaker:

is your new boundary and this is the new person who's shining up

Speaker:

and who's wanting to have more.

Speaker:

Some relationships will be okay with that and some relationships

Speaker:

won't be and that's like life.

Speaker:

Seasons weather it changes so does life and that's okay it's a part of life

Speaker:

.Essentially when you are wanting to receive, you are telling the universe

Speaker:

that, Hey, I'm ready to receive more.

Speaker:

You know, a lot of times when you're wanting to manifest something,

Speaker:

there's a dream that you have.

Speaker:

So around that you want the universe to feel you are ready and raising

Speaker:

your vibration around receiving.

Speaker:

That's a big step in that direction because the universe wants to

Speaker:

give you what you are asking for.

Speaker:

But the universe is also looking, are you ready?

Speaker:

If you are not able to hold it, the universe can't give it to you.

Speaker:

So start with the baby steps, like I will not try and pay for a coffee

Speaker:

if somebody's buying me a coffee, I'll go like, Hey, thank you.

Speaker:

If somebody passes a compliment, I'll go, Hey, thank you.

Speaker:

I have also had more people giving me things and going like, Hey,

Speaker:

I, saw this and I thought of you and I thought you would like it.

Speaker:

And now I go, yeah, thank you so much.

Speaker:

It's so amazing that you thought of me here.

Speaker:

I'm so...

Speaker:

happy that you got this for me.

Speaker:

But accepting things without a regret.

Speaker:

We can be programmed to have guilt around receiving and I want you to

Speaker:

at least look if you can let that go.

Speaker:

Personally for me a lot of times how I work with things is that I meditate.

Speaker:

So I have a little short meditation right now on receiving and before you go ahead

Speaker:

with this portion of the podcast I would ask that be in a safe space where you

Speaker:

can take your attention off for some time.

Speaker:

Ideally, podcasts are absolutely great way to listen while you are driving, but maybe

Speaker:

for this meditation, you can probably listen to it, but probably do it when you

Speaker:

are in a nice space where you can have your attention off for a few minutes.

Speaker:

Alright, so when you're ready, close your eyes, put your feet on the floor.

Speaker:

And again, no problems if you really can't, that's okay.

Speaker:

I really feel meditation sort of works with you, at least the

Speaker:

style of meditation that I teach.

Speaker:

Nothing's got to be perfect.

Speaker:

I encourage you to be in the space of like a three year old kid.

Speaker:

So what that means, a three year old kid, is that even if you are not 100 percent

Speaker:

there, even if you feel like, hey, I'm not 100 percent getting it, that's okay, a

Speaker:

three year old child will go with the flow and sometimes it's not perfect, they're

Speaker:

not evaluating themselves that much.

Speaker:

You know, the mind still kicks in and we analyze, but I highly

Speaker:

recommend go with the flow and enjoy.

Speaker:

Okay.

Speaker:

So when you're ready, close your eyes and take a breath,

Speaker:

another one, and another one.

Speaker:

The breaths allow you to get into your body.

Speaker:

It's you saying hello to yourself and stepping in like, Hey, I'm here.

Speaker:

I'm ready to be present.

Speaker:

And as you notice your feet touching the ground, then you can imagine your

Speaker:

feet really extending into the earth.

Speaker:

Just play with the imagination like a three year old child.

Speaker:

And imagine that they're going all the way to the center of the earth.

Speaker:

The earth is our all nourishing, all giving earth.

Speaker:

It's given us everything that we have in this lifetime.

Speaker:

Our house, our relationships, everything that we eat, we drink.

Speaker:

That comes from Earth somewhere.

Speaker:

So as you connect with the earth, allow the earth to give you its beautiful

Speaker:

earth energy and start flowing that through your legs, breathe, it's okay,

Speaker:

Notice what you notice, notice the feet touching your ground.

Speaker:

And then maybe you feel some sensations from the earth coming up and let

Speaker:

them come up your leg channels.

Speaker:

Coming up your feet, your ankles, your calves, your knees, your thighs.

Speaker:

And then running up as well and also running down your leg channels again.

Speaker:

Notice how that's really relaxing and as you bring this vibration, you can allow

Speaker:

the earth to really heal and nourish you.

Speaker:

You can ask the earth that, hey, wherever I have some blocks around

Speaker:

receiving, can you clean those for me?

Speaker:

And let the earth do it's job, the earth wants to give you, the

Speaker:

earth's always wanting to give you.

Speaker:

So let the earth give to you.

Speaker:

Now up above you are the cosmos, or the universe, imagine the

Speaker:

energy coming from there as well, it's flowing through your crown.

Speaker:

And then going down the back of your spine, coming all the way to where you're

Speaker:

sitting, mixing up with the earth energy.

Speaker:

And then maybe where you're sitting, it mixes with that and

Speaker:

then starts flowing up again.

Speaker:

So it starts flowing up your body again.

Speaker:

It's like a little loop, the universe is also showering on you it's

Speaker:

blessings, it's love, it's validation, it's support for you and all of that

Speaker:

is flowing through into you coming down from the back of your spine and

Speaker:

then going back up from the front.

Speaker:

Just imagine these energies running through you, both of them giving you,

Speaker:

both of them nourishing you, healing you, and you can have your intent

Speaker:

that, hey, wherever I'm not letting things come to me, clean that out for

Speaker:

me, and let the energies do their job.

Speaker:

So up above, when you're bringing the energy from the universe, that's what we

Speaker:

call the cosmic energy or sometimes a life force, so that's running through you, the

Speaker:

earth energy is running through you and both of them are healing and cleansing.

Speaker:

They're running through your space, through your body and

Speaker:

cleaning out any blockages.

Speaker:

and really filling you up.

Speaker:

You can imagine beautiful golden sparkles filling your space and all of these

Speaker:

golden sparkles are bringing you in a much higher vibration and they're all bringing

Speaker:

you to a place of readiness to receive.

Speaker:

Notice what you notice, notice how you feel.

Speaker:

You could even imagine the universe up there cheering for you, clapping for you.

Speaker:

It's a beautiful place to feel supported and loved.

Speaker:

And as you keep running this energy and saying hello to the cosmos, saying hello

Speaker:

to the earth as well, you can have a little chat there too with mother earth.

Speaker:

You could go like, Hey, I'd like to receive, do you have a message for me?

Speaker:

You can have the same one for the forces above for the universe.

Speaker:

You can ask, Hey, do you have a message?

Speaker:

What would you like me to receive?

Speaker:

And then notice if any thoughts come in.

Speaker:

Why don't you bring in now some vibrations of what you would

Speaker:

like to bring in to your life.

Speaker:

Baby steps work.

Speaker:

So start with small things.

Speaker:

Maybe if you're like me, you would want to have free coffees.

Speaker:

So bring in free coffees and tell the universe and tell the earth that,

Speaker:

hey, I want some free coffees, please.

Speaker:

You could ask for free compliments, you could ask for some gifts,

Speaker:

you could ask for things that you wanted and say, I want this.

Speaker:

I want some love.

Speaker:

I want some validation, ask that.

Speaker:

And let that flow through your space and as that's flowing, allow

Speaker:

the earth to cleanse you, allow the universe to cleanse you as well.

Speaker:

Just let them release any blockages, any place where you're holding

Speaker:

any confusion or programming that prevents you from receiving.

Speaker:

Just let the energy run.

Speaker:

And breathe.

Speaker:

And then as you're coming to a close, ask the earth and the universe to pour in the

Speaker:

highest gold into you, the highest gold vibration, your purest gold vibration.

Speaker:

Ask them to bring that into you and fill you up with this beautiful

Speaker:

energy capable of receiving.

Speaker:

Notice how that shifts your energy.

Speaker:

Good, great job.

Speaker:

So when you're ready, you can open your eyes.

Speaker:

So that definitely feels a lot more refreshing and calmer.

Speaker:
