Welcome to another episode of the Art of Life podcast.
Speaker:I am Kanika.
Speaker:I'm a meditation teacher and the host for this podcast.
Speaker:I have witnessed meditation change my own life.
Speaker:I went from a life where I did not want to live anymore, no exaggerations,
Speaker:to a life that I really love.
Speaker:It's filled with meaning and it's filled with joy and now
Speaker:I wouldn't give it up at all.
Speaker:Meditations brought this transformation for me and I thought that if I
Speaker:share that with the world maybe some of you could take those messages
Speaker:or tips for yourself, and hopefully it impacts your life positively.
Speaker:Alright, so today's topic is finding inner peace and alignment,
Speaker:doing what is right for you.
Speaker:How do I know what is right for me?
Speaker:And how do I suggest that you look at what is right for you?
Speaker:Well, before I answer that, let's go into another question.
Speaker:Let's go into the question of who are you?
Speaker:Let's define you.
Speaker:What is your equilibrium?
Speaker:I want you to consider how were you when you were a child?
Speaker:Maybe you remember a lot of that or maybe you don't remember it.
Speaker:That's okay, but look at the times when you've been happy, maybe the
Speaker:earliest memories that you can have when you were two or three year
Speaker:old, when you felt happy, right?
Speaker:Look at maybe some activities that nourish your soul.
Speaker:Maybe it's nature walks for you, maybe it's playing some music How
Speaker:do you feel when you are centered?
Speaker:How do you feel when you are at peace?
Speaker:And notice I'm saying at peace, as opposed to happy, because happy
Speaker:could be sometimes a buzzy thing.
Speaker:I'm wanting to understand your center.
Speaker:Who are you?
Speaker:What's your alignment?
Speaker:How do you normally feel when you are at peace?
Speaker:How do you feel, right?
Speaker:That's you, that is your vibration.
Speaker:And of course the more you want to tap into that vibration of you, I would
Speaker:suggest meditation, I'm a meditation teacher after all, but otherwise you
Speaker:could do other mindful activities like doing some Tai Chi, going for a nature
Speaker:walk, some sound baths, whatever process of the journey you are in, you could
Speaker:do those and reconnect with that part with the equilibrium vibration of you.
Speaker:This is the vibration where your soul's at.
Speaker:This is your vibration where your center is at.
Speaker:Now right or wrong then comes from this definition.
Speaker:Anything that moves you away from the center, that's a
Speaker:disalignment and that's wrong.
Speaker:Anything that is aligning, that keeps you in your center, that's right.
Speaker:Let's look at some examples, right?
Speaker:Maybe there is a party that you get invited to and you don't
Speaker:really want to go but you can't say no so you're going anyway.
Speaker:You're getting a little anxious about it, even if it's not too much, but
Speaker:there's something about it that's not making you feel super comfortable.
Speaker:Something about it that's not in 100 percent alignment.
Speaker:Now in the plainest sense, that is not 100 percent right for you because
Speaker:you are not wanting to do that.
Speaker:Checking in with yourself and then maybe finding ways that you
Speaker:can help yourself be in alignment more and be in disalignment less.
Speaker:Another symptom, a lot of times for people who are struggling,
Speaker:would be staying busy, right?
Speaker:Like making a lot of calls or even creating events where they have to be.
Speaker:Often you'll find it with people who are coming out of a relationship.
Speaker:They suddenly don't know what to do with their time.
Speaker:So they pack their social agenda.
Speaker:They'll immerse themselves at work.
Speaker:And to some sense that can be therapeutic.
Speaker:because yes, you're zoning your attention into something else.
Speaker:But it's almost also like a bandage treatment.
Speaker:But not in the fully holistic way.
Speaker:If you haven't treated the wound, if you haven't disinfected that,
Speaker:then if you're putting a bandage on top, the infection stays in.
Speaker:And maybe sometimes the infection will grow and it might need
Speaker:medical intervention afterwards.
Speaker:If you're staying busy for the sake of busy because you cannot be with
Speaker:yourself, that's likely a symptom of you not being in alignment with you.
Speaker:Notice why are you doing that?
Speaker:Are you being busy for the sake of being busy?
Speaker:Are you attending meetings?
Speaker:Are you overworking?
Speaker:Are you calling people?
Speaker:Are you doing all of the do's because you feel that you cannot be with yourself?
Speaker:Then you're running away from something.
Speaker:And in the end, after you've run and run and run for some time, you will
Speaker:find that you need to come back and you still need to face yourself.
Speaker:All you've done is you've put a bandage on a wound that hasn't yet been disinfected.
Speaker:Right?
Speaker:The first way would be to be in alignment a little bit more.
Speaker:Whatever you would do to be in alignment, so that would be for example your
Speaker:nature walks, that would be whatever helps you connect more with yourself,
Speaker:it could even be massages, to help yourself feel better in the body.
Speaker:Now, think of yourself when you were a child, maybe when you were two years
Speaker:old, three years old or if you don't want to look at yourself as a child,
Speaker:look at some other kids and see how the youngest of kids are when they are
Speaker:happy or in their own zone because they know a lot around owning their space.
Speaker:When we were born, we were in complete alignment with our spirit.
Speaker:It's when we grow up and as we are growing up, we have society programming.
Speaker:We have a whole lot of judgment.
Speaker:We have our own pictures and energies.
Speaker:And so as we keep growing, a lot of times we might get into disalignment
Speaker:because we get confused around what we were originally supposed to do.
Speaker:But the younger kids, they're still more in alignment.
Speaker:That's why take a kid away from a playground.
Speaker:Take a kid away from whatever they want to do.
Speaker:They will make a scene.
Speaker:They know that this is what they want.
Speaker:Sometimes even observing them can be really helpful in understanding
Speaker:how we were when we were born.
Speaker:That was your space and it really meant something for you.
Speaker:Now, there can be a couple of exercises that you can do.
Speaker:Let me do some of those quick examples let's say if you wanted
Speaker:to choose if something was right for you or wrong for you.
Speaker:Again, take the party example because that can be a simpler one.
Speaker:Stand in front of the mirror and say, well, I'm going to this party
Speaker:and I feel really happy about it.
Speaker:Say that again.
Speaker:Say that again.
Speaker:And notice, can you do it?
Speaker:There's something around being in front of the mirror, looking at yourself, you're
Speaker:effectively looking at your own soul and then you're talking to your own soul.
Speaker:Usually your own guidance will come through that.
Speaker:Similarly, if you're confused about certain other things in your life,
Speaker:maybe there's an important decision that you need to take, do the same
Speaker:thing, stand in front of the mirror, say this is what I want to do, this
Speaker:is what I want to do, this is what I want to do and talk whatever thoughts
Speaker:are coming, talk through that.
Speaker:Your own spirit will guide you back and tell you what is actually right for you.
Speaker:Because if it is not right, saying that in front of the mirror
Speaker:again and again will not work.
Speaker:You will go like, well, no, this isn't right.
Speaker:At a general sense, whenever we are doing something wrong, something
Speaker:that's not in the broader alignment with us, our soul does give us a
Speaker:nudge, somewhere we do know it.
Speaker:If you're feeling a little confused about things, try the mirror exercise.
Speaker:That's a really good tool to have.
Speaker:The other exercise could be having white space in your daily life.
Speaker:White space is when you're not engaging with the outside world.
Speaker:White space is when you are doing nothing.
Speaker:It's not watching TV.
Speaker:It is giving yourself a brain break.
Speaker:It is allowing yourself to sit with nothing.
Speaker:Now, if you can meditate, that's an amazing thing.
Speaker:But if you can't meditate, sit in the white space, observe your
Speaker:thoughts, let them come and go.
Speaker:Have that white space because the frequency of that white space will
Speaker:tell you where you are vibrating at.
Speaker:And if there are thoughts that are running in your head that are causing you
Speaker:discomfort, then that gives you a signal that you need to do something about them.
Speaker:It doesn't get more clear than that.
Speaker:Having that white space and not running away from it.
Speaker:Sit, observe.
Speaker:Even if that white space means that while you are doing nothing, you sit
Speaker:down and color, that would be a good example of letting your thoughts go.
Speaker:And there's something very relaxing around coloring that helps you be
Speaker:in that mindful state where you can let your emotions come and go.
Speaker:Engaging in something that can help you notice your emotions a lot more, not
Speaker:doing any chore, but maybe painting, it's more being really in touch with yourself.
Speaker:Journaling could be a really good example that you sit down,
Speaker:write your thoughts as they come.
Speaker:Another example could be sitting and speaking to yourself, as if you're
Speaker:talking to a present version of yourself.
Speaker:it's a little bit similar to the mirror exercise but it is working in
Speaker:a little bit different way because you're vocalizing in a different way.
Speaker:Now I also offer a grounding ebook.
Speaker:This is free for all.
Speaker:Grounding is a powerful way of being able to connect with the earth to release
Speaker:stress and anxiety, to feel centered.
Speaker:Every single day, I'll still ground almost all the time.
Speaker:It's my favorite, favorite tool.
Speaker:If you are doing my life makeover program, you definitely know
Speaker:how much I love grounding.
Speaker:It's like an aha for everything major that can happen in your life.
Speaker:It's such a big releasing tool.
Speaker:It's a very simple exercise or very simple imagination based method of allowing
Speaker:the earth to help you release your pain, your trauma, and get filled in with all
Speaker:the beautiful vibrations that you want.
Speaker:You can check my grounding ebook out at ArtofLifeCenter.com/grounding/.
Speaker:I'll be in touch with you with some meditations as well.
Speaker:You can try those for yourself.
Speaker:The grounding ebook is absolutely free for you and it gives you those tools in a very
Speaker:playful manner to be able to reconnect and to be able to realign with yourself.

Speaker:we should do something or not.

Speaker:and internal changes that you do with each of those meditation sessions.
